outbidcity.lol · the startup graveyard
Most products die quietly. The domain lapses, the landing page 404s, and a few years of somebody's work disappears without a trace. The graveyard is a corner of Outbid City that keeps them visible: a plot of ground, a headstone with a name, the years it was alive, and one honest line about what killed it.
It is not a joke section. Post-mortems are the most useful writing in this industry and the least likely to survive, because the site that hosted them is usually the thing that died. A headstone in a city people actually walk through outlives a dead blog.
The graveyard is empty. Every one of the 24 plots is unclaimed, so the first startup buried here gets the pick of the ground.
You can bury your own dead project or one you simply thought deserved better. Plots follow the same rules as the rest of the city: one occupant at a time, and anyone can take a plot over by outbidding the standing bid. See the rules and pricing.
The good ones are specific and short. "Ran out of runway" says nothing. "Two years building for a market that turned out to be twelve companies" says something. Name the actual mistake — the wrong customer, the feature nobody wanted, the co-founder split, the platform that changed its API. That is the part somebody else can learn from.
